Occupational Health and Safety Officer US & Canada

We are looking for an Occupations Health and Safety (OHS) Officer with a focus on increasing our workplace safety as well as enhancing the health and well-being of our employees through continuous improvement. In this role you will work closely with our managers to ensure that our employees have the proper training and follow guidelines.

The position is based in Denton, TX .

You will be travelling up to 20% of your time.

What you will do

As OHS Officer US & Canada, you will: 

  • Be responsible for the safety of our employees in the field, ensuring that the activities carried out on our customers' premises are in accordance with Tetra Pak's Health and Safety Policies.
  • Be responsible for maintaining and cultivating the safety culture that exists in our company, maintaining and improving the accident rates obtained.
  • Be responsible for the health and well-being programs for all employees in our US/Canada market.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of health and safety training.
  • Advise and guide the company's leadership towards healthier and safer attitudes.
  • Support the leadership in cases of incident and/or accident analysis of our field employees.
  • Maintain updated health and safety records for the preparation of action plans and reporting.
  • Support health and safety audits.
  • Handle Workers Compensation Insurance claims.
  • Manage contractors and customers in relation to all OHS subjects.
  • Monitor compliance with agreed site OHS policies and procedures both at Tetra Pak sites and customers sites.
  • Manage health data to promote preventive campaigns among the company's employees.
  • Stimulate Health and Well-being activities.

We believe you have

  • At least 5 years of experience in an OHS related role.
  • A Bachelors Degree in a related field
  • Previous safety experience, ideally in multiple US states and Canada.
  • Solid experience in Health and Well-being.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Certification preferred.
  • Ideally ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals) Membership.  
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to influence people. 
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate on different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze data to develop action plans.
  • Fluent English skills.
