Job Description:

• The Secretary of State, Information Services needs a Digital Content Accessibility Specialist to evaluate browser-based applications for compliance with WCAG 2.1 ( and Section 508 ( standards in accordance with Maine's Digital Accessibility Policy.
• There are two new applications that are in development and require review, including a vendor provided solution for CEC and an in-house developed modernized BMV application.
• This position will be responsible to following State of Maine guidelines to perform testing, propose solutions and create a final accessibility compliance report for each application.
• There are two browser-based web applications scheduled to go-live within the next few months. An initial assessment of accessibility for one application had several findings.
• To ensure that both applications are being developed with WCAG 2.1 and Section 508 standards, the Department of the Secretary of State requires a position to work with both agencies and developers to ensure appropriate accessibility standards are met.

Requirements:

• 4 years of experience and knowledge with accessibility testing browser-based web applications. Demonstrated success with documenting findings and providing digital presentation of any issues.
• Anticipates, identifies, tracks, and resolves issues and risks affecting your own work and work of the Test and/or Application Teams.
• Develop contingency plans as necessary.
• Research problems and provide guidance as needed
• Develop understanding of system business requirements supported by the Test team
• Participates in assembly or product test execution as required.
• Schedules the design of structured walk-throughs or inspections; resolve issues.
• Aware of new developments in industry and processes and ability to apply to work as appropriate.
