Job Description

Job Summary:

Lend strength to Bethel Church of Redding to see the expansion of God’s kingdom by ensuring the completion of projects that will enhance the experience of staff and visitors, demonstrating God’s love, excellence, and beauty. 

Responsible for matching and applying paint to various surfaces, completing touch ups, and coordinating large painting projects by using painting equipment and painting practices currently in use in the profession.

Weekly Hours: 20

Salary: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Top Responsibilities:

· Meet with clients to discuss color and finish options.

· Perform routine inspections of properties for general upkeep.

· Maintain and update painting logs.

· Accurately estimate time and material costs.

· Select and purchase paint and supplies from vendors.

· Prep painting project sites by moving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project.

· Prep the surface by scraping, sanding, priming and sealing surfaces prior to painting.

· Protect all nearby furnishings and building materials before and during every painting job, including carpets, cabinetry, outlet covers, and lighting fixtures.

· Apply paint to various surfaces using either brushes, rollers, or airless paint sprayer.

· Clean and maintain all painting tools and equipment. 

· Perform thorough site cleanup which includes removing debris, broken glass, putty or plastic.

· Replace window and door hardware as well as glass for windows, doors, and light fixtures.

· Operate appropriate aerial lifts and forklifts as needed to perform duties of the job.

· Attend and complete safety trainings related to occupational work conditions and safety hazards as required by the Facilities Department.

· Contribute to team effort by accomplishing assigned tasks as requested.

Requirements

Required

• Believes and adheres to the beliefs and vision of Bethel Church
• Current, valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Understanding of the color spectrum and ability to recognize proper color matching
• Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades
• General to advanced knowledge of maintenance procedures, including but not limited to building, repair, installation, breakdown, and project completion
• Experience using a variety of hand and power tools, and the ability to perform a variety of physical labor, including climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing for long periods of time; lifting and carrying boxes, tools, equipment, and materials
• Ability to read architectural drawings, and review and identify projects needed to be serviced by outside contractors
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form as well as follow oral and written instructions, establishing and maintaining cooperative and effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work assignments
  Required within 3 months of start date
• Certification to operate scissor lift and boom lift
• Knowledge of Federal and State safety rules and regulations as well as occupational hazards and safety precautions (OSHA)
• Ability to use a computerized organizational system and/or software such as Google Calendar, Google Drive and Google Mail
  
  Preferred
• Hands on experience with a licensed contractor for a minimum of two years
• Experience with large scale exterior commercial painting jobs
