Job Description

Job Summary:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the management function of the logistics department. This role involves developing and implementing logistics strategies to optimize efficiency, minimize costs, and ensure timely delivery of goods to customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement logistics strategies, policies, and procedures to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, sales, and customer service, to align logistics activities with business goals and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in transportation, warehousing, and distribution.

Transportation Management:

  • Manage transportation activities, including carrier selection, route planning, and freight negotiation.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Monitor transportation costs and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.

Distribution and Fulfillment:

  • Develop distribution strategies to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
  • Monitor order fulfillment processes and implement measures to improve order accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to address customer inquiries and resolve delivery issues.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise logistics staff, including drivers and logistics coordinators.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
  • Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork and collaboration among team members.

Technology and Systems:

  • Implement and maintain logistics software systems to support transportation planning, inventory management, and order tracking.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and trends in logistics and supply chain management.
  • Work with IT staff to address system issues and implement system upgrades or enhancements.
