Job Description

Under the direction of the Integrated Health Education Director (Simulation Center), the Health Education Specialist will be responsible to oversee, plan, develop, manage and evaluate the operations of the Integrated Health Education (Life Support Training Services-AHA) which operate as an official certified training center of the American Heart Association (AHA).

Responsibilities

· Serve as lead instructor for BLS, ACLS, PALS, and ASLS courses in greeting, registering course participants, collecting pre-work, preparing the classroom and setting up the skills stations, managing the audiovisuals, ensuring the correct paperwork is utilized and completed for skills sessions, problem solving with equipment, interfacing with other instructors, adjusting resources as needed.

· Uphold the AHA requirements, including test and card security, adherence to equipment maintenance, appropriate ratios for instruction and quality control.

· Provide additional learning support to participants lacking required skill sets.

· Monitor, coach, and assist with the development of the instructor pool, including identifying and training new instructors.

· Support and uphold the IHE practices and procedures, working closely with the IHE Education Specialist, Director, and BLS Coordinator to achieve program goals.

· Recommend strategies for continual improvement of classes.

· Assist with scheduling of classes and instructors.

· Maintain provider and instructor certifications in AHA programs.

· Coordinate, develop, and implement (when necessary) all aspects of the Integrated Health Education Training Center, as assigned by the Director of IHE.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (Required) Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related field (healthcare). Will substitute for associate’s degree in healthcare field with 7 years’ experience. Level of Experience: 7-10 years in related field. Resuscitation sciences, adult learning education, and current AHA instructor.
