The $3.0M Food and Beverage department is open year-round with a vibrant restaurant, an interesting array of events for our members, seasonal menu rotations, and a robust function business ranging from small intimate affairs to large plated weddings or off-site catered events.
Position Description:
Black Rock Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic, Food and Beverage Director to oversee all aspects of the Food and Beverage Department, including day to day operations of the Restaurant/Grille Room, functions, poolside restaurant, and the 10th tee kiosk, as well as developing staffing plans for all outlets, training and development, reviews and analyzes various financial results/reports to monitor overall Food & Beverage performance and take corrective actions needed, events bookings, and interacting closely with and Executive Chef and Culinary team to provide superb dining and beverage experiences for all members and their guests. This position requires exceptional food, wine and beer knowledge, strong leadership, organizational and communication skills. This full-time year-round management position reports directly to the General Manager.
Candidate Qualifications:
The next Black Rock Food and Beverage Director is expected to have a strong presence to the membership and on the floor, must be willing to work evenings, weekends and select holidays as business demands, and directly supervises the Events Director, Food and Beverage Manager, Lead Houseman, and indirectly all servers, bartenders, bussers, hosts, housemen, function captains, event managers and 10th tee attendants. The polished manager will supervise staff with a hands-on, positive approach, while consistently exceeding members' expectations. This will be through comprehensive and ongoing training, on the floor evaluation of service standards being met, and proper hiring as the activity level and events business warrants. Additional expectations include scheduling, budgeting, ordering, conducting regular and accurate inventories, providing regular updates to the website, calendar planning, managing the reservation system and point of sale system.
With the assistance of the Food and Beverage Manager and Function Captains, additional responsibilities at times include greeting and seating members and their guests, and maintaining order and cleanliness within the room, overseeing Housemen to complete function and dining room set ups, providing input for catering offerings, menu development, and dining related capital projects.
Educational and Certification Qualifications:
A two- or four-year degree in a Hospitality Management related field is preferred and/or culinary school. Three to five years’ experience as a manager of club dining, restaurant or high volume/high service food & beverage operation with function experience.
Knowledge of Dining Point of Sale software and terminals, specifically Jonas, must be ServSafe Certified, and TIP’s Certified.
