We are looking for a Director of Engineering to join the re-opening of the famed Delano Miami Beach.

Set to open its doors in 2025, Delano Miami Beach will fuse historic charm with contemporary luxury, reflecting a reimagined experience that pays homage to the original visionary concept. Comprising 170 rooms and distinct food and beverage concepts, the hotel will preserve its iconic walk-in pool and, in addition, unveil a new pool on an amenity deck, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. Delano Miami Beach will act as the brand’s flagship location, re-establishing Delano as a trailblazer in luxury lifestyle hospitality.  Ennismore, in partnership with Cain International (the owners of Delano Miami Beach as well as partner in the Delano brand), are currently undertaking a significant renovation and redevelopment of the iconic Delano hotel with an aim to open its doors again ahead of the 2025 winter high season.

In the role of Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the property-based engineering team, ensuring strategies are in place for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel.

Job Description

What you'll do... 

• Develop and implement departmental policies, health & safety, procedures, and other training programs.
• Budget development and ongoing budget management. Ensure that costs and inventory are controlle and productivity and performance levels are attained.
• Lead the engineering team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment, and work schedules.
• Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors and suppliers to ensure that services and goods are delivered in line with the hotel’s policies.
• Ensure guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service always.
• Operate in compliance with all local laws and government regulations and best practice activities are planned, delivered, and documented for internal and external audit, performing follow-up as required.
• Establish and deliver an effective planned preventative maintenance programmed (PPM).
• Ensure compliance with the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA)
• Communicate with General Manager, senior leaders and hotel department heads on a regular basis regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems, and equipment offering prudent, cost effective proposals for maintaining these systems. 
• Oversee necessary repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders.
• Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, such as - all outside contractor bids, budgets, and schedules. Manage CAPEX projects.
• Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA

Qualifications

What we're looking for...

• At least 7 years of Engineering Management experience in hotels or building maintenance, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel
• Proven planning and project management skills.
• Experience in managing a team to successfully achieve the hotel’s goals.
• Sound technical knowledge of air conditioning, plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical and mechanical aspects.
• Hotel opening experience strongly preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. 
• Ability to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation.
• You have a passion for hospitality, you inspire an enthusiastic guest-centered approach.

• You are comfortable with the strategic as well as day to day detail.
