The Director Construction Technology at CB&I holds a pivotal role in coordinating the design of CB&I structures into deliverables showing safe, dependable, and economical methods of construction both in contract and pre-contract phases of opportunity development. This engineering leadership position plays a crucial role in not only executing projects but also in collaborating closely with HSE and Operations to develop new, cost-competitive solutions for our customers worldwide. This role involves overseeing complex projects, driving innovation in construction methods, and providing strategic leadership. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and strategic thinking to ensure the success and growth of our Construction Technology department.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional construction technology development projects from inception to completion, ensuring project goals, timelines, and budgets are met.
  • Collaborate with operations, subcontractors, and external partners to streamline project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams ensuring compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality procedures are maintained.
  • Develop and implement forward-looking strategies to innovate construction methods and proprietary equipment, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Identify emerging trends and technologies in construction methods, evaluating their potential impact on our projects.
  • As Issuing Authority for Construction Technology CMS documents, understand the process for developing and maintaining the various Construction Technology documents to ensure safe and reliable processes are implemented throughout the organization.
  • Ensure familiarity with external industry professional organizations related to cranes, rigging, heavy haul, and fall protection.
  • Develop necessary financial reports for departmental budgets, cap-ex requirements as well as pre-contract budgets.
  • Monitor the progress of budgets throughout execution.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of construction technology professionals
  • Support a culture of collaboration across functions and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Constant interaction with project managers and operations leadership teams.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration for proprietary equipment development, supporting the success of our PEOT team leader.
  • Maintain a culture of safety and quality within the department.
Qualifications:
  • Ten years minimum construction/project management experience or equivalent.
  • BS in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school is preferred.
  • EIT or working toward obtaining EIT, and then a professional engineering license is preferred.
  • Experience with storage tanks and/or pressure vessel design is desired
  • A Professional Engineering license in at least one state is preferred
  • Familiarity and understanding of CB&I’s construction means and methods or equivalent.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations (1926 & 1910).
  • Understanding of ANSI equipment & safety-related standards.
  • Understanding of Engineering, Construction & HSE procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of basic structural design.
  • Knowledgeable of detail drawing development for the fabrication and assembly of mechanical construction equipment.
