Job Description

Title: College and Career Program Coordinator  

Department: Teen Services  

Reports To: VP of Teen Services  

Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time  

Compensation: $21–$24 per hour 30-35 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:  

The College and Career Program Coordinator leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs that prepares high school students (9-12) for post-secondary education and career success. This position oversees the organization's college and career readiness initiatives, engaging youth in creative, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive programming. 

Reporting to the VP of Teen Services, the Coordinator collaborates with schools, community partners, and families to ensure a robust program that fosters personal growth, academic achievement, and workforce readiness. The role includes case management, event planning, and curriculum delivery, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all members.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Program Development and Delivery :  

  • Implement a structured college and career readiness programs, including workshops, college tours, job coaching, and career exploration activities.
  • Facilitate the Ready to Work curriculum six times annually, serving 15–20 students per session.
  • Assist members with college applications, SAT/ACT preparation, and financial aid processes.
  • Provide case management for 30–40 teens, supporting their transition to post-secondary education or careers.
  • Organize and deliver targeted programs aligned with member needs and interests.

Outreach and Partnerships :  

  • Recruit and retain teen members for participation in college and career programs.
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, businesses, community partners, and families.
  • Act as a liaison with the high schools College and Career programs, participating in on-campus collaborations and events.
  • Recruit, train, and engage volunteer job coaches and mentors.

Evaluation and Reporting :  

  • Track program participation, outcomes, and impact using data systems.
  • Conduct surveys and gather feedback to assess teen interests and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure grant deliverables are met, preparing reports as required.

Other Responsibilities:  

  • Promote and ensure adherence to organizational policies, safety guidelines, and program standards.
  • Supervise members to ensure safety and program effectiveness.
  • Attend staff and advisory meetings to align teen interests with organizational priorities.
  • Support the broader teen services team by assisting with other programs as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, youth development, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience working with teens in a youth development setting.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of college admissions, financial aid, and scholarship processes.
  • Familiarity with adolescent development and effective behavior management techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex initiatives.
  • Proficiency in program evaluation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to de-escalate crises effectively and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Valid driver’s license, ability to meet insurance requirements, and willingness to drive for carpooling.
  • Ability to pass DOJ fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, and completion of mandated reporter training.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Availability to work Monday–Friday, 12 PM–7 PM.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bilingual (Spanish-English).
  • Experience with Boys & Girls Clubs programming.
