Job Description

Position Summary:

  • Creates, develops and delivers clinical education programs for Nurses, practitioners and Health Care Aides by utilizing the Learning Management Systems (iSolved)
  • Reviews all materials taught on an annual basis to ensure best practices and national standards are followed.
  • Attains/renews instructor's certificates for mandatory certifications provided by national recognized organizations, including but not limited to BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • Manages the facilitates orientation and mentorship hospital employees and ensures updates of the orientation programs for all clinical staff.
  • Determines certification/re-certification needs for employees and provides education to meet them.
  • Conducts introductory and continuing education on paper and electronic health systems related to the clinical environment to ensure charting by health professionals is accurate and meets legal requirements for health record documentation.
  • Ensures that clinical education and clinical care policies, procedures, and protocols are continuously reviewed, updated, and distributed throughout both hospitals.
  • Participates in the regular auditing process to ensure compliance of implemented policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Promotes ongoing education and orientation on new, updated or amended quality and patient safety policies, procedures, protocols guidelines, legislation and professional practice issues (e.g. liability issues) that impact client care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related conferences, seminars and the like.

JOB REQUISITES:

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Completion of BSN combined with a minimum of three (3) years work-related experience in an acute care or community health care setting, or an MSN with focus on education.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of acute care organizations, operations, coordination and collaboration of patient care units, allied health services and support services.
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider & Heart Saver Instructor certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of education and/or organization development theory, in order to plan and implement orientation, staff education and program development for multiple areas and work units. Able to prepare related reports, procedures and guidelines.

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of adult education practices, especially instruction and facilitation practices.
  • Skills relating to the development and implementation of clinical programs to healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge of evaluation methods in the health care field.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices in a variety of clinical areas.
  • Knowledge of professional standards of practice and legal components of clinical practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point use.
  • Research and analytical skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Strong writing and group public speaking skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and inter-group skills to effectively lead and facilitate internal, external, individual or multidisciplinary division team or group education sessions.
  • Ability to work in a team and cross-cultural environment.
  • Organizational, time management, analytical, facilitation, and presentation skills to manage multi-disciplinary responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of tact, discretion, and diplomacy.

  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Coordinates College Bound and Employee development programs.
  • Provide training and monitor Lift Smart First Program.
