Pay: $80,000 per year

Position Summary:

This position is specific to the provision of services within the City EMS system and will provide orientation and other training that is required for paramedics and EMTs that are working in the City’s EMS system. This position will maintain Falck San Diego education scheduling and work with the City’s Education Manager to develop continuing education materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains Falck orientation program, assuring all information is current and consistent with LEMSA, state, and national standards
  • Participates in the EMS system equipment and evaluation committee
  • Coordinate with EMS Education Manager to develops education processes to include course objectives, course content, examinations, evaluations, and manuals for use as lesson plans
  • Coordinate orientation classes, certification and instructor certification courses, and other continuing education courses with EMS Education Manager
  • Tracks and maintains employee certifications and collaborates with management and the scheduling department on certification expirations to avoid lapse in credentials
  • Collaborates with the Field Training Program Coordinator to assure the needs of the trainee and company are met, in compliance with LEMSA and Medical Director requirements
  • Coordinates logistics of field preceptorship with local colleges and Falck Scheduling department, assuring the needs of the students are met and follow guidelines set forth between the schools and Falck
  • Coordinates evaluations for local EMT & Paramedic school candidates
  • Develops and schedules continuing education programs relevant to field education needs and industry advances
  • Develops, conducts and coordinates EVOC courses
  • May perform other duties assigned by management

Qualifications:

Education/Licensing/Certification:

  • Current State Paramedic license
  • Current San Diego County Paramedic
  • BLS Provider or Instructor certification
  • ACLS provider and/or Instructor certification and PALS provider and/or Instructor certification

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years San Diego City field experience and teaching experience as a Paramedic
  • Applicable State Instructor/Coordinator certification -  desired. (can be retrieved after 90 days of hire)
  • Experience in performing, evaluating, instructing, and coaching all aspects of the delivery of pre-hospital care.
