Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team. In this full-time role, you will primarily handle accounts payable (AP) within a computerized accounting system. You will also serve as a backup for accounts receivable (AR) and will be cross-trained in AR responsibilities. This is an in-office position, so candidates must be able to commute to Jersey City, NJ.

Key Responsibilities:

Process purchase orders and match vendor invoices to purchase orders
Scan and input vendor invoices into the accounting software
Run and monitor the Accounts Payable Aging Report
Ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices
Close Accounts Payable periods
Scan and archive vendor invoices
Reconcile vendor statements
Prepare and assist with special reports as needed
Monitor and respond to a busy email inbox
Qualifications & Skills:
The ideal candidate will have:

3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field
Strong data entry skills with attention to detail
A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including email correspondence
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage MAS 90, and/or Sage 100 is preferred
Proficiency in Excel and other computer applications
A strong ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
A short commute to Jersey City, NJ (ideal candidates should live nearby)
Candidates will be required to take tests as part of the application process to assess accounting knowledge, Excel skills, and computer proficiency
