Job Description

We are looking for an Art Director for a top fashion company in NYC! Oversee and guide the visual aesthetic and creative direction for all owned and licensed brands. This position will collaborate with Creative leaders in the development of engaging collateral and content that tells a brand and product story which elicits an emotional response from our current and future customers. This position will work closely with product design, merchandising, visual, brand styling, merchandise coordination, PR and marketing partners to develop creativity that supports the brands business objectives. They will also collaborate closely with external talent such as photographers, stylists, models, and other creative professionals to bring concepts to life, ensuring that all visual elements align with the brand’s identity and the latest fashion trends. This position will be instrumental in building and maintaining brand creative integrity through all Omni channels. The ideal candidate will possess a strong eye for design, fashion-forward sensibility, and leadership skills to manage and mentor a creative team. The Art Director will ensure that all visual content maintains high standards of quality, while pushing boundaries and staying ahead of the curve in the fashion industry. They will thrive in a consumer centric brand first culture, with prior experience working across a global/regional matrixed operating model.

Responsibilities:
  • Creative Direction: Develop and execute the overall visual concept for fashion campaigns, editorial shoots, catalogues, lookbooks, and other marketing materials.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with Creative Director, designers, photographers, stylists, models, and other stakeholders to create cohesive and innovative visual presentations.
  • Brand Consistency: Ensure that all creative work aligns with the brand’s visual identity and messaging, maintaining consistency across all platforms.
  • Trend Forecasting: Stay up to date with current and emerging fashion, art, and design trends to inform creative concepts and direction. Deep understanding of fashion trends, photography, styling, and visual storytelling.
  • Photography and Styling Oversight: Guide and oversee photography and styling to ensure the highest level of quality and visual impact.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Creative Team Leadership: Manage, inspire, and mentor junior designers and creative professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Presentation & Client Interaction: Present and pitch creative concepts to internal stakeholders and clients and adjust based on feedback.
  • Quality Control: Review all visual assets to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality before delivery or publication.
  • Decision Making: Manages decision-making process regarding all projects, under the guidance of Creative Director leadership.
  • Resourcefulness/Creativity: Handles multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines; flexible and solution-oriented with a positive attitude towards teamwork; able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changes in requests and deadline
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Art Direction experience, Fashion and Style experience
  • BA/BS degree required, preferably in a Graphic or Fine Arts field
  • Vertical retail Omni experience a plus & Portfolio of highly creative work
  • MAC proficiency including Adobe Suites and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of responsive design best practices preferred
  • Experience in directing still photography and video shoots from concept to execution; both in studio & on location
  • Knowledge of current on figure and still life photographers
  • Strong presentation and communication (both verbal and written) skills
  • Strong time management, interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask
  • Experience in working within established budgets and tight deadlines
  • An excellent sense of style, design, trend
  • Positive team player with ability to collaborate with multi levels
  • Attuned to fashion and industry talent
  • Must be willing to travel and may work long shoot hours
