Job Description

Liberty Bay Credit Union is one of the oldest and most established credit unions in New England with over 100 years of operations. We remain among the oldest, largest, and most highly capitalized credit unions in the United States. The Braintree-based credit union is a cooperative, non-profit financial institution that offers a full range of financial services to individuals and business members.

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Analytics Engineer to build and scale our credit union’s data infrastructure and business intelligence capabilities. This role will be responsible for evaluating and implementing modern data tools, building a centralized data model or warehouse, and partnering with business units to deliver actionable insights. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of SQL and Python, understands banking products and systems, and can bridge the gap between raw data and decision-making.

This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to shape the data strategy and ecosystem from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture & Engineering

  • Evaluate, design, and implement a scalable and secure data architecture (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
  • Develop robust data models and pipelines to integrate data from core banking systems, digital platforms, loan origination, CRM, and third-party fintech tools
  • Implement ETL/ELT workflows using SQL, Python, and automation tools
  • Define and maintain data governance, quality standards, and security protocols

Business Intelligence & Insights

  • Collaborate with internal report developers and business leaders to define KPIs and build dashboards in Power BI, Looker, or similar tools
  • Translate business needs into data products and self-service analytics solutions
  • Ensure data is presented in intuitive and impactful ways for business users to manage performance and drive outcomes

Strategy & Collaboration

  • Act as a thought partner to senior leadership in leveraging data for operational and strategic decision-making
  • Identify opportunities for improved data use, automation, and optimization
  • Evaluate and manage third-party data vendors and consulting partners as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, a related field, or equivalent years of experience in the role.
  • 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI development
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse, etc.)
  • Experience building and managing data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Hands-on experience with BI platforms like Power BI, Looker, or Tableau
  • Knowledge of banking data and products such as loans, deposits, digital banking, and regulatory reporting
  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance in a financial services environment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams

Preferred:

  • Experience with dbt, Airflow, or other modern data stack tools
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and API integrations
  • Experience with Google Workspace and collaborative tools
  • Exposure to predictive analytics or machine learning is a plus

The pay range for this role is: $ 75,000 - 150,000 USD per year

Benefits

We offer an extremely generous benefits package:

  • Healthcare plan (Employer paid)
  • Retirement plan (401k)
  • Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off (vacation, sick, holidays)
  • Family Leave (maternity, paternity)
  • Short Term & Long Term Disability
  • Training & Development
  • Wellness Resources

Why Join Us:

You’ll be at the center of building a modern, member-focused credit union from a data-driven foundation. Your work will help shape how we serve members, make strategic decisions, and operate with transparency and agility.
